Sacyr Water begins to manage the water supply in Ribadesella (Asturias)16/12/2019
Sacyr Water has begun managing the supply of drinking water and sewerage services in Ribadesella (Asturias) for a five-year period (with the possibility of an extension for another 5 years), a project worth 5 million euros.
Scayr Water is providing a service to a population of just under 5,700 which increases, during vacation periods, to 30,000. The company will supply over 1 million cubic meters of water per year to its customers.
Along with innovation, major priorities for all the processes involved in the service are the preservation of natural resources and the environment, and occupational health and safety.
Sacyr signs up to the "Business Ambition for 1,5ºC"13/12/2019
- The multinational commits itself to meeting emission reduction targets designed to limit the rise in global temperature to less than 1.5°C above that of the preindustrial era.
Sacyr has signed a commitment to “Business Ambition for 1.5°C”, an initiative encouraging companies all over the world to align themselves with the United Nations’ target to limit the rise in global temperatures to less than 1.5ºC above what it was in pre-industrial times.
As part of this objective, Sacyr has signed the letter of support for Science Based Target (SBTi), a combined initiative of CDP, the United Nations Global compact, the Institute for World Resources and the WWF. SBT will assist in establishing science-based strategies against climate change to reduce gas emissions that contribute to the greenhouse effect. This represents yet another action by Sacyr to protect the climate.
Sacyr has become one of the companies and organizations that have signed up to this objective. The “Business Ambition for 1.5ºC” commitment has been signed by a total of over 177 companies. These companies employ over 5.8 million workers in 36 countries, and represent annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions equivalent to those of a country the size of France.
Sacyr’s commitment to this initiative forms part of its responsibility in the fight against climate change. The company sees the issue of CO2 as a priority action within its organization and contributes to improving the environment in which it operates.
Sacyr Water is awarded the maintenance of the Vitoria sanitation and purification network12/12/2019
- The contract, worth 11.4 million euros over three years, will provide services to a population of over 250,000 residents.
- The service equipment will have zero emissions, be eco-friendly and significantly reduce the consumption of water thanks to improvements in performance.
- The city’s sanitation network is over 1,000 km long.
Aguas Municipales de Vitoria (AMVISA) has awarded Sacyr Water the maintenance service of its sanitation and purification network (urban quarter and administrative councils) for a period of three years (renewable for two more years) and an amount of 11.4 million euros.
With this contract, Sacyr Water will provide services to a population of over 250,000 residents, and will carry out:
- the cleaning and inspection of the sanitation network, over 1,000 km in length;
- the restoration works with reparation technology without opening ditches;
- and the cleaning of septic tanks.
Valoriza Medioambiente presents the improvements in its street cleaning and waste collection service for Santa Cruz de Tenerife11/12/2019
- The fleet of vehicles and equipment will be replaced by more sustainable and less noisy eco-efficient ones.
- From December 1, it started to provide the cleaning and waste collection service.
The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Patricia Hernández, and the councilor of Public Services, José Ángel Martín, along with the executive director of Sacyr Servicios, Fernando Lozano; the director of Valoriza Medioambiente’s southern area, José Luis Salegui; and the service manager, David Posada, this morning presented the improvements in the cleaning and waste collection service.
On December 1, Valoriza Medioambiente began providing the city cleaning, waste collection and transportation service for Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands). The contract has a duration of eight years and has a total worth of 142 million euros.
Artabro wins the ninth edition of the Sacyr Awards for Innovation29/11/2019
The Galician technology firm Artabro wins the 9th edition of the Sacyr Awards for Innovation. The Minister of Development, José Luis Ábalos, and the Chairman of Sacyr, Manuel Manrique, presented the award to Alejandro Casteleiro, CEO, and Miguel Vidal, CTO of Artabro, during the gala held yesterday afternoon.
Artabro provides analysis and artificial intelligence services incorporating machine learning techniques to process data. Their winning proposal consists of the development of an advanced tool to detect business opportunities.
This was one of the four challenges launched in June by Sacyr to the innovation community within its Sacyr iChallenges program. This year, the initiative has received around 200 proposals to resolve the 4 challenges proposed by the company.
Sacyr’s Chairman, Manuel Manrique, indicated during the presentation of the awards that, “at Sacyr, we define innovation as talent, diversity and sustainability”.
The Galician firm beat out the other three finalists for the Awards, Zerintia, Kwido and Informática El Corte Inglés, which provided a response to the other challenges posed by Sacyr: Digitalization of workplace security; Social services and remote care; and Smart tolls.
Sacyr is awarded the maintenance contract for the ZA-04 Sector in Zamora for 15 Million Euros20/11/2019
Sacyr Maintenance will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep in the ZA-04 sector (Zamora) for the General Directorate of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works, for a price of €15.3 million over three years, with the possibility of extending for another two years.
The ZA-04 sector contains highways A-52 and N-525 within its territory in the province of Zamora. The A-52 “Rías Baixas Highway” is the main highway for entering the southern provinces of Galicia from the central Meseta and ends in Vigo. The Padornelo Tunnel is located at kilometer point 99 on this highway, at an altitude in this section of 1,381 m, which makes it the highest-altitude high-volume road in Spain.

Surge Ambiental consolidates its business as a waste manager in private events
UEFA has awarded Surge Ambiental, a subsidiary of Sacyr Environment dedicated to the management of privately generated waste, the contract to manage the waste from the VIP tents in the vicinity of the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid during the UEFA Champions League 2019 final on June 1.
This contract consolidates Surge Ambiental’s business as a waste manager in private events. The contract includes the management of the Champions Village and Football Village areas, which will occupy an area of 35,000 m2 and host some 10,000 UEFA guests and VIPs.
Sacyr Water is awarded several operating and maintenance contracts for water treatment plants in Navarre ande water management in Biar (Alicante)16/05/2019
Sacyr will manage 111 wastewater treatment plants and will serve more than 84,600 inhabitants in the Autonomous Community of Navarre.
The management of water in Biar is the first contract of the water cycle in the Valencian Community by Sacyr
Sacyr Water has won several contracts for the operation, maintenance and conservation of wastewater in Navarre and for the management of drinking water supply and sewerage in Biar (Alicante), for an amount totaling 14.6 million euros.
In the Northwest and Pyrenees of Navarre, Sacyr Water has won the contracts for the operation, maintenance and conservation of transport and wastewater treatment facilities for an amount of 4.6 million euros over four years. This contract, awarded by Nilsa (Local Infrastructures of Navarre), a public company attached to the Local Government Department of the Government of Navarre, includes a total of 106 wastewater treatment plants.
In the southeast of Navarre, Sacyr Water has managed five Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) since October 2018 for an amount of 1.4 million euros over a period of four years. These treatment plants serve a population of 23,500 inhabitants and process 4.62 hm3/year.
This contract, awarded by Nilsa, includes the WWTP of Valtierra-Arguedas, Bajo Ebro (towns of Cabanillas, Fustiñana, Ribaforada, Ablitas and Buñuel), Cortes, Cadreita and Castejón.
